There were a number of hoverflies and flies that had all succombed to a fungus, and all on the same plant - Raphanus raphanistrum. They were being predated by a Panorpa meridionalis (uploaded separately).

Cup 5mm; when younger is a disc completely covered with dark inrolled brown hairs. Marginal hairs and hairs from excipulum are short. The few cups found were kind of hiding in the moss. Under conifers; on the side of a hill. It is very arid here. Hairs have 1-2 roots at base. Spores are not round. Bleeding when injured. On dead standing hardwood. Perhaps oak. Mossy woods. I examined Stereum gausapatum and learned that it is the apical part of its immerse skeletocystidia that has red brown heteromorphic deuteroplasm (a purely secondary sub-substance) which produces the staining reaction.

Side of dirt road; side of Old Mondego River. When spotted, I thought it was a coral fungus. Larva is huge. Its body has already transformed into a fungal flesh. It has an incredible fungal sweet smell (cut). This area has been cleaned drastically so it exposed the soil were the larva was buried. Outer layer of larva was removed to see other details.

On hardwood stick. Side of rural road. The color is a more vivid red-purplish tone. The fruitbody on the third photo was examined and was 3 cm long by 2 mm on the head. When cut it showed the imbedded perithecia and the white flesh. Spores have a sheath. I don't know if they will lose it later.

On moss which has been growing on a concrete plank for a long time. Weeds and few grasses present. Stem snaps easily. Strong smell, a mix of an agreeable and a disgusting one. Interesting observations of the spores. Several present odd shapes. Few exceeded the average size of the typical spores. Examined cap 3 cm; stipe 6.2 cm.

On Convolvulus arvensis. Apparently, fibrosin bodies which are strongly refractive particles in the conidia of some true mildews, are absent here. Last photo was taken on July 5 to show how dense the mildew could become.

Initially was going for Ramariopsis or Ramaria, but these seem to have a much "spikier" and inaturalist suggestion seemed to make more sense. At least microscopy would probably be in order to better classify them.
