Platycryptus undatus with a large carpenter ant as prey. Looks like a gravid female. Found on back shed.
Had me stumped for a long time. I'll reveal the identity soon but curious to know if anyone else has seen something like this before? Let's make it a guessing game :D
Edit: reveal in the second image, prepare for a letdown.

Went fishing on Baffin Bay, and caught a croaker. We threw it on the boat to use as bait but continued using shrimp. When the fish died, we saw this crawl out of its mouth. I had seen a show about it and knew what it was and brought it home for better pictures. The fat end seemed to have gills, like a crab does. I killed it and threw it away after the pictures because I don't need a tongue-eating louse in my house.

I have no idea what this bird is
Interesting note. These bats were swarming a deer which was being swarmed by insects, to feed on the insects.
Most likely a fledgling that was from the nest in our society. Lost its way and came in our house. It looked dehydrated so was given sugar syrup.
AKA Common Bluewing. I believe this is the only Zenithoptera that occurs in Costa Rica.
The contents looked much like a bird egg ... is there an evolutionary link?
This Wikipedia article observes that fish and amphibian eggs don't have shells (as such) but rather "thick leathery coats" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eggshell#Fish,_amphibian_and_reptile_eggs

photographed on my paddle, and only about 1/2" across, this aquatic seem hard to track down. Closest I can guess is a Water Shield, but I'm definitely "confuzzled" about this one.
A young Ocelot visiting water feature at Visitor Center headquarters. Tragically, the Ocelot was ill and found dead a few days later.
Possible pairing. The behavior of this pair not leaving each other's side has been observed for the past week. Red-tailed observation at https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/40388612
These were growing in the soil over some decaying flowers. Interestingly, ants were all over the place when I was taking a sample, specifically, ants of the genus Tetramorium.Possibly a food source?
Springtails also spotted in the same place, obviously aiding in the process of decomposition.
In shade on rocky slope. Will follow to view bloom.
This is this year's baby, probably hatched in September. It's a male, about 16 or 18 inches long. Since hatching he's probably never fed and shed only his post hatch shed. He was out on the road trying to warm up. It was 66 degrees and had been 40 at dawn.
Blind. Approximately 2mm long.
Collected in drift at a spring on private property. Accessed and collected with permission and permits.

Game camera image. When the antlers are in velvet, the bucks "box" in dominance encounters rather than risk injury to their tender antlers.
Funny capture of bobcat eating a deer.

I don’t why this cracked me up so much, but this puma sat in this position for over an hour today. She was so comfortable that she refused to budge, and her paws were sticking out like this the whole time.
Found in rock crevice atop small mountain. Three inches long
