It was the first time that I heard a porcupine "talking". What an amazing experience! There were two porcupines facing each other on a tree. It seemed to me that one of them did all the talking. Initially I thought that it was a male courting a female but when I saw them crawling in two different directions I figured that it was not the case. Maybe the chatty porcupine simply asked its buddy in which direction it would have liked to crawl. It's pretty amazing that I was able to record this gentle sound with my cheap smartphone.

Two porcupine high up in tree have been making these sounds for 12 hours. They are keeping about 1 meter apart. Territorial males or pair mating ritual?
