Two month old cougar kill site using a collared cougar and verification by track and sign specialists and cougar biologists, with scratches on both a vertical tree and a horizontal, fallen tree.
NOTE: This type of scratching is relatively rare for cats in general. Most often, large scratches in trees are from bears.

The tracks are in town but somewhat away from development (the old dump) and near the wildlife corridors of the Yukon River and MacIntyre Creek. The tracks cut through trees off of the trail in a direct route that eventually led to the steep valley of MacIntyre Creek and headed down the hill.

This possum had at least 4 babies that I watched it remove from a cavity in a dead hackberry tree. One fell and mama eventually came down the tree to retrieved it, stuffing it into it’s pouch along with all the others. All the while, a titmouse was pulling hair off of the mama possum’s butt.

Okay y'all... Beaver, River Otter (my first guess), or Nutria/Coypu...? There were 5 of them... Was pretty cool to see them coming back down Old River (which was completely dried up this past summer-late winter). Just really hoping they're not another invasive species (Nutria) & if Beaver or Otter, are left to do their good works & ecological services.

Scat was found on the slope of a man-made levee, that is occasionally mowed, that encircles a man-made wetland below the dam of ACOE Pat Mayse Lake. This is a state wildlife management area. There are beaver dams in the stream nearby and in the wetland near the culvert that lets water out into the stream.
