Substrate comprised primarily of sand with areas of sand, gravel, and cobble, and other areas of sand and silt. Two live individuals pictured.

Fresh tracks 1,200 - 1,600 feet from the St. Croix River, Wisconsin side across from Afton State Park. Tracks identified by Jonathan Poppele.
Tracks were moving away from the river. The ice was breaking up that morning and making lot of loud popping and reverberating sounds.
