Found it on the outside concrete sidewalk in CDMX, Miguel Hidalgo, Around Mercado de la America.
Did not identify its tree of origin, (trees that were nearby).
I took it home and tried to release it in my garden, but it kept falling off the trees I was putting it in and plus I have cats. So in a container, I set up a stick, different leaves from my garden, and for flooring, a damp paper towel. It looked like it was in its end stage of larvae and was soon to pupate. I wanted to observe it.

Upon arrival to my house, it seemed active, not any strange behavior.
One thing I noted is that what it felt threatened, it curled its head inward and uses the distinctive 2 yellow rings above its head as fake eyes,seemingly simulating some kind of snake.
About 2 hours later, it became inactive.
About 6 hours later I observed it again and the its colors became darker and duller. It’s still inactive. The distinctive colored features it has turned brown while the rest of its smooth dark brown body turned an even darker brown. It has a silk thread attached from its body to the branch on its left and right side. Its backside also has silk attached to the stick too. It does this to add support while it’s forming the chrysalis.
Poor thing I think it was looking for a suitable place to start pupating.

Gender unknown, I guess I’ll find out till it emerges from its pupa.

Still currently observing and monitoring it from its plastic container.
