First instar "hatchling" on Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata). Eggshell at 10 o'clock to cat. It is suspected this cat is munching on the fine pubescence of the leaf stem.

Description
Monarch butterfly (danaus plexippus, MWTAG.ORG tag number ‘ACJU 064’) nectaring on California Cruicillo (pseudoziziphus parryi) imported into the Lake Wales Ridge from the California Chaparral as an ornamental and/or fruit crop root stock in the late 1800s or early 1900s. The largest known specimen should indicate one of the original attempts of California Crucillo, aka Wild Plum, aka Parry's Jujube. This could be found most likely at Bok Gardens, known for installation of ornamentals from across the globe.
