Growing abundantly in wet, rotten leaf debris partially covered by water and algae in a marsh. Salix nigra and Liquidambar styraciflua formed a loose canopy with grasses, sedges, rushes, and Saggitaria latifolia scattered in patches in the marsh. Texture gelatinous. Ascocarps heads up to 20.2 mm tall and 17.2 mm wide. Stems up to 40.0 mm tall and 4.9 mm wide. ASci unitunicate, inoperculate and 8-spored. Spores hyaline, 0-septate, with gelatinous sheaths, elliptical to lunate. Spore measurements: (11) 11.7 – 16.4 (18.9) × (2.5) 2.8 – 4 (4.4) µm; Q = (3.5) 3.7 – 5 (5.8); N = 30; Me = 14 × 3.2 µm; Qe = 4.3
