I’m going with Mexican Plum for identification, as the bark and leaves are similar. However, the fruit from this tree appears smaller and more of an oblong shape compared to the other Mexican plums I’ve seen. Could this be a unique evolutionary marker for the species of this area? Comments welcome.

I FINALLY figured out what this plant is. I’ve been seeing it occasionally throughout the parks system. There’s a huge patch of these growing near the Wissahickon Environmental Center / tree house. Mature trees are very tall with Ailanthus-like leaves but a shaggy bark. Seedlings in this area are very abundant. Tree label says “Cedrela sinensis”
