A resident of the region in Syrian Qalamoun told me that the tubers of this plant were dried and crushed for use in making bread during the years of severe drought since ancient times.

Description

I am sorry that this observation is the first time without flowers, but it is known that the spread of this rare and distinctive species is limited only to Mount Qasioun in the capital Damascus. It was supposed to bloom in early April, but it seems that climate change has clearly affected it, and it began to bloom in mid-March or I will republish it next year with its wonderful flowers. I also put a picture of the road leading to it between the random houses that were the reason for the deterioration of this species.

I changed the location's coordinates in order to protect this type of tampering people, but it is very close to its original location

This species grows wild in the north of Jabal Al-Arab in one of the hills known in the region and is known as "Tell chihane", which is a dormant volcano of basaltic nature.
This plant has been classified based on Mouterde's book
(La Flore du Djebel Druze )
which he found in this place.
I will post pictures of the site for your viewing.

This plant grows wild in the far south of Jabal Al-Arab on the Syrian-Jordanian border strip in a specific geographical spot. It spreads greatly in good winter days, as the leaves cover the entire land.. I traveled a distance of more than 80 km and was able to document this unique and rare plant, and I am very happy to be the first Someone in Syria documenting this plant .. Greetings to all of you
