Description
A bald eagle dropped this on top of my house. I heard a loud noise a couple hours back (shortly after 1:09 this afternoon) and saw a bald eagle pass immediately afterward at low altitude. I didn’t find the source of the noise until just now. Let me know if you think this should be labeled “Bald eagle”, although you’d have to take me on my word on that.

There were at least two otters. Got really lucky with this shot. Did not get another opportunity like this but they did hang out in the area for a little while. Barely caught glimpses of them as the swam around.

Substrate: Lignicolous
Ecology: Old growth forest/wetland nesting within a metropolitan area.
Notes: Found adjacent trail on downed tree. Surprised to apothecia either disintegrating or having been worn down exposing the namesake blood-red layer within.
