Highly localized, calling from dense vegetation near the main seepage channel in an area approx. 100m^2. No calls were heard anywhere else, suggesting this species shows strict habitat preferences. Pictures are of the entire wetlands, not the specific location of this individual.

The botanical treasure trove of the Chimanimani Mts never seizes to amaze. In 2006 my wife and I first found this slender Ceropegia twining through the grass. The only clue to its identity we discovered was the presence of 2 specimens at the herbarium in Harare tucked away in an unnamed folder. When we found it again in 2014 and collected a specimen for the Kew herbarium it finally got some of the attention it deserved but it took until the release 2 years ago year of the Flora Zambesiaca volume covering the Ascleps of the region before it was officially described as Ceropegia chimanimaniensis, another addition to the long list of endemics in these mountains.

Daubenya stylosa
previously monotypic Amphisiphon stylosa; very local endemic on dolerite clays east of Nieuwoudtville; only 4 plants seen here, and not seen in adjacent Hantam NBG dolerites at all, in spite of a good look; strongly suspect that rampant porcupine activity has significantly reduced the already small and localised populations of this sp; suggest it should be uplisted to CR in the absence of any evidence (eg others obs) to the contrary ; fls going over

Redlisted as Endangered. All three subspecies are EN.
Only one plant was seen - although there could have been more, but definitely not an abundance. This population would be under threat due to constant direct and indirect impacts - alien invasive plants and human activities.

Argyrolobium splendens
only known locality for this long lost species, which seems to flower only after fire; I've been waiting patiently for the area to burn since I rediscovered it some 7yrs ago, and it finally burned in Jan 2015. Sadly still only in bud, but I was able to record at least 500 plants, but nearly all severely threatened by Hakea (sericea and drupacea). Young and old leaves very different in texture and colour. Resprouter. Sandy loams, extending right down to river some 100m south of this point.
