According to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center of the University of Texas in Austin, the Beautyberry is a shrub that grows from a planted seed. Its name comes from the glossy, magenta fruit that grows on its stems that feed many species of birds. This leafy, fruity tree can grow up to 9 feet in the air. Its green leaves are oblong shaped and are visibly veinous with textured edges. It is native to the United States and it grows in nutrient-rich, moist soil. I found this little gem, by the Sycamore Fields forest at USF.
