Description

Primeiro encontro com essa espécie raríssima no brejo paraibano, o tráfico ilegal e a captura, assim como a caça predatória o uso de veneno nas plantações por parte de pessoas sem noção acabaram dizimando grande parte das populações de canário-da-terra. Hoje pensava que já estavam extintos da natureza nesse sítio, pois antigamente eram muito abundantes, nos campos, nas plantações de arroz que eram plantadas antigamente e os mourões de cercas e estacas ficavam repletos de canarinhos, e outras espécies como galo-de-campina e golinhos, hoje em dia tudo isso foi quase totalmente dizimado. Porém não foi a extinção completa dos canarinhos na região, no dia 25 de fevereiro de 2024, encontrei 5 individuos de Canário-da-terra em um campo, logo na saida de um pomar, eram 3 fêmeas e 2 machos adultos bem desenvolvidos, se não os capturarem as chances da espécie continuar prosperando é grande.
