Fully grown jumping worm in mid March, in a location where we found many jumping worms last year.
James Audubon State Park
Very cute hopping up and down around the tree, and this bird obligingly did the textbook nuthatch pose several times for me (body face down but then looking back up/around). Last shot was me practicing trying to follow a bird as it flies away so I’m grateful to even get the blurry wings instead of nothing. Trying to learn more bird calls and looked these guys up after the fact and we DID hear them several times, just didn’t know what we were hearing.
My sister is not interested in birdwatching and has a lot of memories of walking these trails with her dearly departed dog, which can make it sad, but I left a wider shot in to show how it’s so pretty here! If I lived closer I’d be out there every chance I got.
