Field Notes - Whilst I was feeding my birds one of them picked up this scorpion and tryed to eat it though he gave up. He was in the short grass had white legs, a black body and was alive and agressive.

After a rain shower, I saw this crowd of scorpions emerging from a hole in an old termite mount in the forest. They were of various sizes. The largest one (before last picture) only emerged very briefly and not beyond the entrance. The vibrations of my walking probably agitated them. They stayed around the mount for a while and went back in.
Note the unusual white stinger with long hairs.

Field Notes - It is the largest scorpion species in the world. Confined to the dry zone of sri lanka. Brown colour body and brown colour leggs are characteristic features for this species. This was found near termite mount. Very agresive.
