A late instar admiral larva that we found feeding on Utica urens nettle.
Caterpillar in Babies Tears pot plant.
going to say yellow over red since I have seen quite a few yellow in my garden lately
Feeding on Pellitory of the rock
Found on Native Pellitory (Parietaria debilis). Hoping this is a Yellow Admiral caterpillar!
Put to yellow admiral as that is the most common in my garden, but also get the occasional red. Breeding on nettles.
Eating just above a fellow chrysalis.( See other ID) Observed on stinging nettle.
Loads of caterpillars on a cultivated native nettle , Urtica australis.
I dont think the foodplant of this caterpillar is around here? ( tree nettle if its a red admiral ). Reckon its ready to pupate? I found it under a lot of weeds but no hostplant seems to be nearby
Caterpillar in leaf
The pupa in the second photo (another rubbish photo sorry) was wiggling - I wondered if this was in response to the wee fly or wasp that was wandering around on it (see second photo)?
