Pacific Koel (Eudynamys orientalis)

Description

loud, repeated bird call at night, bird not seen. two note call, falling-rising, sounds like "too-whit" or "coo-eee". urban/suburban area in the Western region of Melbourne, not particularly close to water, seemed to be quite close by and coming from above ground level, so probably perched in a tree.

sounds very much like this recording of an Eastern/Pacific Koel adult male dawn call: https://xeno-canto.org/672995. See also this recording from Ballarat, west of Melbourne: https://xeno-canto.org/614182. There are also couple of recent obsercations from the Victorian Volcanic Plains ecoregion of which western Melbourne is part: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=175574&taxon_id=100695

Typically this species is found only in the far east of Victoria, but I believe their range is expanding south and east. The time of year and conditions (late spring after heavy rain) is also correct for male mating calls. I don't think I have ever heard this bird call before, and it was very loud and distinctive, so it's plausible to me that it's a recent arrival in the area. However this would still be an unusual observation, so I welcome alternative suggestions!
