Description

Female. Reoccurring individual that has been seen here since this past Thursday (at least that was the first that I heard about it). I first saw it in a small tree on the West side of the Stow House at 9:40am and watched it for approximately 20 minutes. Watched it fly from branch to branch in several different trees around the Southern side of the Stow House. Kept catching insects and eating them. Eventually headed over to the Eucalyptus row on the West side of the house near the entrance to the railroad museum. There also appeared to be either a female Western Tanager or Hooded Oriole that deplaced the Summer Tanager from a branch around the time I first saw it, but I could not ID this second bird.

Description

Is this Lupinus cervinus? Definitely resembles the pics and there are CalFlora observations of it from Cone Peak Rd, so maybe. Large lupine growing on an embankment among chaparral / mixed forest.

Thanks to Pete Veilleux for the ID confirmation.
