O'Melveny Park BioBlitz

An Eagle Scout Project organized by Bret Potter to BioBlitz O'Melveny Park. O'Melveny Park looks out over the San Fernando Valley from above Grenada Hills. California chaparral and oak/riparian habitat. Bret got good turnout from dozens of younger scouts who were eagerly looking under rocks for insects and lizards.

Bioblitzing curbside wetland in Westwood

I bike by a permanently wet gutter at the corner of Wilshire and Manning on my way to work. Too much irrigation from wealthy homes up the hill runs down Manning to Wilshire and collects a bit on this corner. It's amazing to see succession of a wetland plant community happen right here in such an urban setting. I tried to document as many species as I could in a few minutes today.
