TAW Devine Lake February 2016

February 6, 2016
Devine Lake Park, Leander, Williamson Co., TX

Myself and one other volunteer began lake side monitoring for amphibians at 5:40 p.m. to try and locate specimens for pictures. No amphibians were located.

Monitoring for calls began at 6:10 p.m. (sunset) and continued for one hour. At 6:58 p.m. a Rio Grande Leopard Frog (Rana berlandieri) called at call index 1. The frog called one time and stopped before recording could take place.

The lake was much above average and the water temperature was 53 degrees Fahrenheit at sunset. The sky was clear and the relative humidity was 28%. Air temperature at the three monitoring periods (in degrees Fahrenheit) was 51 degrees at 6:10 p.m.; 50 degrees at 6:38 p.m. and 42 degrees at 7:05 p.m.

From 7:28-7:33 p.m. Rio Grande Leopard Frog at CI=2 and Blanchard's Cricket Frog at CI=2

No frogs were seen but a sound recording was taken and posted on iNaturlist for the 6:47 monitoring period.

The lake was much above average and the water temperature was 65 degrees Fahrenheit at sunset. The sky was clear and the relative humidity was 30%. Air temperature is estimated at 55 degrees Farenheit. The thermometer was stolen at the sight during the monitoring period so air temperature could not be monitored for each monitoring period.
