I've been a volunteer docent naturalist with a local open space district since 1997. My natural history interests vary (arachnids, insects especially moths, night hikes, slime molds, herps, birds, and other inverts, in particular). I especially enjoy being able to take people out at night on our preserves.
I'm a certified California Naturalist. I have taken numerous entomology and natural history courses and workshops, in addition to completing a bioscience certificate in optical and fluorescence microscopy, after working in IT. I'm a past section leader for my local Christmas Bird Count. I have explored nature in Costa Rica 6 times and visited Ecuador once.
I photograph and sometimes video the small (and often tiny) things that I see, and often record nature sounds while I'm out.
