I am a retired professional geologist with a remote sensing and GIS background. My mother was botanist and my father was a well-known ornithologist. I grew up observing plants and birds (and collecting rocks), and I have a strong (an understatement) interest in edible plants. My profile photo was taken in December 2022 at a local citrus tasting event showing a few of the over 100 varieties of citrus my wife and I grow, along with dozens of other subtropical and warm temperate fruits, in our orchard north of Houston, Texas.
