As an anthropologist, I've always viewed the outdoors from the human perspective - indigenous uses of plants, cultural landscapes, and archaeological sites - and as an excellent place to spend time with family and friends. I became involved with iNaturalist because of my son [https://nhm.org/nature/blog/eagle-scout-eye-nature]. We hosted a malaise trap in our yard for a year, and thanks to insights from Lisa G, I now view insects as part of the system and not as gross crawlies. Over the course of a month in our yard, Miguel O's bat microphone identified 5 species flying nearby, and the camera trap caught coyotes, opossums, and raccoons. iNaturalist intrigues me. I do some IDs of my submissions by photo comparisons, so if you have the knowledge, I'd be grateful for better identifications.
