I have always loved being outdoors. I've lived in several different parts of the country, including New England, both ends of Pennsylvania, Florida, central and east Texas, and Colorado. When I moved to the Rio Grande Valley about 10 years ago, I felt as if I'd landed in a foreign land. Nearly all the flora and fauna was new to me. My curiosity led me to becoming a Texas Master Naturalist where I discovered a love for birds. My favorite volunteer activities take place at the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center where I am constantly learning new things.
