I am a German herpetologist with over ten years of research experience in ecology, systematics, and distribution. Most of my research focusses on chelonian species and combines species distribution modelling approaches with molecular genetic techniques. I am a member of the IUCN/SSC Tortoise and Freshwater Turtle Specialist Group (TFTSG). Presently I work as a post doc researcher at the phylogeography department of the Museum of Zoology, Senckenberg, Dresden, Germany. In the frame of a collaboration project entitled: "Chelonian diversity and sytematics" I study sub-Saharan chelonian species. My main research focus is presently on Hinge-back Tortoises of the genus Kinixys - a project funded through the German Research Foundation (DFG).
