Hi! My name is Lydia. I'm a Miami-Dade County/South Florida based botanist and nature lover with soft spot for Lepidoptera. My hometown is Hialeah, FL, the second most populous city in Miami-Dade County.

For work I am a field biologist at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, focused on rare plant/habitat conservation and management.

I am a M.S. graduate from Florida International University where I worked with Drs. Cara Rockwell, Mike Ross, and Hong Liu, studying the plant composition of intact pine rockland-hardwood hammock ecotones, a citable habitat for rare and specialized edge species. I aimed to elucidate environmental factors that drive species richness and diversity as well as to gain insight for restoration efforts in preserves with disconnected pine rockland-hardwood hammock ecotones.
