When I stumbled on INaturalist I was instantly hooked. It is fantastic! The site is so comprehensive and easily navigated but it is the generous help from the site’s many experts make it a great experience.
My first few weeks have been a bit of a learning curve- upwards I hope -for both the quality of my photos and for my identification skills. I have learned that while the identification of small grey moths is best left to experts, there are many other taxa for which I can find keys and try to to identify.
Over the coming months I hope to catalogue the local seashore fauna and flora and begin to record alien weeds in nearby wild habitats. I also want to take better photos, but I will need to invest in a telephoto lens as birds just don’t come close enough for the phone in my camera.
