The Outramps CREW Group is part of the CREW programme (Custodians of Rare and Endangered Wildflowers) of the Threatened Plants Programme at SANBI South Africa. It is a Citizen Science initiative and we are tasked with finding and then monitoring the rare plants in our area. South Africa is one of the few biodiverse countries that has assessed its complete flora in terms of threat status. We work in the Greater Southern Cape, which includes, mountain, lowlands and coastal habitats. We aim to catalogue the flora and fauna that live in our area. The Outramps have been in existence since 1992, when we started contributing to Dr Tony Rebelo's Protea Atlas Project . When the project ended, we slid seamlessly into the CREW project. The co-ordinator of the Groupis now Jenny Potgieter, who tookover from me in 2020.
