I'm a Professor Emeritus of plant systematics at the University of Washington, where I'm also Emeritus Herbarium Curator. My Ph.D. was on Scutellaria of western North America, which is about the only group I feel fully confident in my identifications. While the Pacific Northwest is home, I've worked mostly on Latin American plants professionally. My research interests include Verbenaceae, Bignoniaceae, Solanaceae, and Scrophulariaceae, among others.
