Identifying Flies

While pondering over this strange Diptera sp. I saw yesterday (strange, beautiful and fascinating), I came across this resource

Useful for getting those pesky diptera to family.

Description

So fascinating! Small, red-orange body, delicate movements. Seemed fascinated by this gelatinous-looking object nestled between the leaves.

This is an amazing and terrifying page. I could see falling way down the rabbit hole on flies.

Meet you at the bottom of the well! I hear there's moss down there, too!

Nooooooo, I can't get sucked into mosses and lichens. I'm still avoiding moths as it is.

Fear not the moths! They are beautiful - they'll come when you call (with light), and more are identifiable with your birding skills than for other taxa

Impressive! Flies always seem impossible.
