The Problem with Fish!

Dear Students - Fish are notoriously difficult to photograph in the wild, especially from high above! But I got lucky yesterday, at a little bridge over San Mateo Creek, in Hillsborough. I was looking into the creek for schools of small fish, but instead caught sight of a large bubble - a sign of something aspirating under water. I looked with my binoculars and saw a gorgeous Rainbow Trout! Now, I carry a "real" camera in addition to my smart phone - a Canon Powershot with some zoom capability. But I presumed the fish would be gone by the time I had the camera ready. And I was WRONG! The trout was determined to stay in this one area, that not only was visible to me, but had some plants nearby to give me a visual anchor to its location. The result was that I could get numerous pictures of a beautiful fish! It re-taught me the benefits of patience and persistence!
