Ferny Forest Bioblitz Upload

Hi Everyone.

Thanks so much to those who came along to the Ferny Forest Bioblitz yesterday. I am keen to put together a summary of what we found by mid week so if you have observations/ photos saved on phone and cameras please get them uploaded ASAP. I am keen to use this information to share on social media and with the environment minister. To help highlight why Ferny Forest is so important to protect before it is logged. Also if you have any photos of the event and your group in the forest please share. organiser@qldconservation.org.au

Also I have created this facebook group so people can share key observations from state forests, report on logging sightings and organise forest surveys https://www.facebook.com/groups/434798641452114

Ferny Forest Bioblitz - What's next...

Hi Everyone.

Thanks so much for taking part in the Ferny Forest bioblitz on Saturday. It was really great spending time connecting to and appreciating the forest with you! For those who missed out, maybe you can join the next one. The next step is making sure all the observations are uploaded and identified on iNaturalist. I am keen to have that all ready by the end of the week. Can you let me know if you still have some uploading to do and when you are likely to have this done. For those with great ID skills please also jump on and help identify those that need it. Also double check that your iNaturalist observations are showing up in the Forest Watch project, let me know if they aren't. I know a few of you recorded observations without being about to upload them onto iNaturalist eg Birds without a photo please send these to me ASAP - organiser@qldconservation.org.au

Once this is done I will pull together a bit of a report to send to the minister and share on social media. I will keep you updated on that so you can also share this. Have a look at the project to check out the observations so far. Currently we are at 100 species identified, great work for 2 hours! A big shout out to one of our younger participants (Spencer from Save Sunrise Glossies) for leading with 34 species, not that it is a competition.

You may have also seen on the weekend that Ferny Forest was in the media. ABC article here and TV clip here.
