Although a bit gruesome looking at first glance, I found this shot quite humorous. This preening House Finch looks like he had his head taken off, complete with gorey blood stain and all! But "thankfully, no animals were injured in the filming of this observation." lol

Friends took us for an afternoon visit to Greenfield Lake in Wilmington. The park had some surprisingly nice scenery and wildlife for a small, 190-acre municipal park surrounded by development and neighborhoods. http://williamwisephoto.com/photographyblog/alligators-birding-greenfield-lake-nc

That's me (not a sasquatch) on an alligator capture-tag-release program on Bear Island WMA, SC in the spring/summer of 1996. I loved gators before this day, but was totally hooked after holding my first juvenile and feeling the growl of an adult as I sat on her to be tagged (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/18369794). That weekend started my alligator addiction. See the online journal at www.williamwisephoto.com.

March 2020 Okefenokee Journal: I had been hoping to get a decent Swallow-tailed Kite photograph, but thought I was leaving the Okefenokee Swamp disappointed, once again. We had even packed up camp, loaded the canoe, and were driving the long road out of the refuge when I spotted it! Not far from the boundary of the NWR soared a beautiful kite in the open, blue skies. http://williamwisephoto.com/photographyblog/swallow-tailed-kite-bird-soaring-okefenokee-swamp

We slowly rowed into their midst and they surprisingly sat quite still. What a feeling to be surrounded left and right by these young gators. At the north end of Minnie’s Lake on the Middle Fork of the Suwanee River in the Okefenokee, we paddled into a cove of Spatterdock and downed cypress that held an inspiring spectacle: no less than six or seven young alligators congregated in a small area. March 2020 Okefenokee Swamp photo journal. "This year's trip was special. My daughter brought along a friend this time... her first trip to the swamp; her first time being face-to-face with an alligator. We pushed off from the Stephen C Foster State Park boat dock for an hour paddle around Billy’s Lake. Thankfully, the gators did not disappoint..."
