Fruiting body pale white, firm. Veins present on underside. Margin rolled under. Stem short, thick. Orange staining observed. Growing in ground, sometimes in clusters, but usually standalone.

The last image shows one of my C. subalbidus specimens (left) next to a more orange C. formosus (right).

Found in Big Pond trail systems. My first C. subalbidus find!

Obervation #300 (yay!)

Young fruiting beneath Sitka spruce, evergreen huckleberry and salal.
Vibrant yellow hymenium sharply contrasting pinkish white cap.
Non-staining flesh.
Harvested specimens and dehydrated for herbarium collection/Mycoblitz voucher.

Mature fruiting body beneath Douglas fir, lodgepole pine and vine maple.
Harvested specimen for later culinary use.
Sliced into strips and dehydrated(will pulverize cracker crisp strips in coffee grinder into powder and incorporate with kosher salt).
