Several pairs of dotterels as well as two juveniles were present on the beach.

Common shrub and small tree on island - usually secondarily dominant in Plagianthus forest understorey with kawakawa (Piper excelsum subsp. excelsum) and hoho (Pseudopanax chathamicus). Species just starting to flower. Known on the islands as 'mahoe'.

One of a number of birds seen whilst traversing the island.
Relatively frequently seen - but not many birds, just very friendly and so following you when walking at a botanical pace, so often seen. Always seen in pairs.
Common (and easily caught - this one destined for evening meal) off rock shore platform.
Abundant. Commonly seen at dusk and throughout the night but very difficult to photograph with 'generic happy snappy camera'.
