Observations from my visit to the Laurel Highlands during summer camp of 2023. This was my first time experiencing the Appalachians and their wildlife which was pretty neat.

Plant above Lycopodium (Diphasiastrum) This picture is hard to identify, but Smilax ecirrhata was common in this forest. For some reason I didn't take any pictures specifically of it, but I found one in this photo.
