I reside in Palm Beach County here in Southeast Florida. There are many natural areas around including in neighboring counties that I have yet to visit. I am a veteran. I have been in Florida since 1986. I am married. My wife loves butterflies, just not where they live. I am a weekend hiker (work F/T) out looking for animals in natural areas. I have my favorite places that I do my best to get back to every so often, but the good news is there are so many preserves, parks, and natural areas I have yet to visit. Going to a new place always heightens my sense of adventure. I most enjoy seeing how many animal species I can photograph at a place and also helping get a new place on the map. I am trying to reach 1,000 animal species in South Florida and so far, have made it to 621.

I am on iNat every day. I visit all kinds of Florida terrains and don't mind getting my boots wet. My favorite places to visit seem to be scrub ecosystems. I constantly daydream of venturing outside my area to visit interesting places, but also recognize I have many dozens of yet to be visited places within a 50-mile radius of my house. I wander at about one mile an hour and love to spend several hours emersed in nature and not see another person. If I were an animal, I think I just described a Gopher Tortoise, of which I do cross paths with every now and again.
