I have hiked the East Bay hills since the early 1970's trying to learn every plant and its edible, medicinal, and cultural uses and to discover and use natives that thrive in gardens that are frequently visited by deer. I no longer make observation lists in all my plant books since I found iNaturalist! I am a docent at the Regional Parks Botanic Garden (EBRPD) in Tilden Park (www.nativeplants.org) and I enjoy meals of stinging nettles washed down with Yerba Buena tea. I like to share the stories of how different cultures use plants and have intermittently led native plant education walks for children and adults over the years. My iNaturalist name, MugwortDr, is linked to my abiding interest in dreams as a psychologist and the dream-stimulating and other medicinal properties of mugwort such as for Moxa used in acupuncture. See you on the trails. Alan Siegel
