My name is Kelby Ouchley. I retired from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service after 30 years as a wildlife biologist and manager of national wildlife refuges. I have written several natural history-related books and am somewhat of a general naturalist in terms of my interests. In spite of having been in this arena for a long time I still make my share of mistakes, so don't hesitate to question/correct my IDs. For the present, I will use iNaturalist most often to document the biodiversity on the 72 acre Heartwood Natural Area (a component of the La. natural areas program) where I live in Union Parish, Louisiana. I have a Facebook blog titled "Bayou-Diversity" at https://www.facebook.com/BayouDiversity/
You can find my books including "Natural Words - A Dictionary for Naturalists" on Amazon at: https://www.amazon.com/kindle-dbs/entity/author/B0046C109I?_encoding=UTF8&node=283155&offset=0&pageSize=12&sort=author-pages-popularity-rank&page=1#formatSelectorHeader and "Bayou D'Arbonne Swamp - A Naturalist's Memoir of Place," which recently won the 2023 John Burroughs Medal for excellence in natural history writing. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0807177318/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_hsch_vamf_taft_p1_i3
