I am the Executive Director of the UC San Diego Natural Reserve System . I use iNaturalist extensively in the Coastal Ecology class I teach.

My research is focused around understanding patterns of plant distributions. I work at scales ranging from small field plots to aerial and satellite imagery. I recently published a paper on the use of iNaturalist observations in vegetation mapping, and I'm looking forward to continuing to explore applications for ecosystem monitoring.
