Great Southern BioBlitz 2021 - Lockyer Valley Region

Lockyer Community Action (LCA) has nominated the Lockyer Valley Region as a project focus in the Great Southern Bioblitz and has registered as an organiser for the area. We see LCA's role as being a liaison with the GSB team, promotion of the event, and facilitation of those wishing to participate in the BioBlitz.

Anyone can participate in the Bioblitz, whether as an individual, a family, or as a member of an organisation, school, etc.

The aim of including people with an interest in nature but no particular expertise in data collection or species identification in the Great Southern Bioblitz fits in very well with the focus of Lockyer community Action's program for the second half of 2021. Involvement in the GSB Bioblitz and our three planned workshops will provide opportunities for participants to build their skills and knowledge in recognising and recording wildlife, while getting to know people with similar interests and passions.

What are you likely to see?
there have been 297 species observed in the Lockyer Valley RegionL during October, with the most common species observed being the Koala Phascolarctos cinereus (below left © lca_inc), closely followed by the Green tree frog Ranoidea caerulea
(below right © Cara).
