A new moss species for Dukes County, MA. Growing on a dead, fallen tree that retains some of its bark.
Although without capsules, this moss can be distinguished from Leucodon sciuroides by the presence of perigonia (last three photos), absence of a central strand in stem cross sections, and terminal cell at leaf tip mostly shorter than 30 microns in length. Anomalous character: leaves papillose on abaxial surface near tip.
