Description
This 3/4" Chlamys hastata (Spiny Pink Scallop) was squirming and leaping about in a shallow tide pool. The second photo shows the scallop underwater.

My boyfriend found this California frog live half buried in the sand of the tide pools by 8th street beach in Del Mar. Super cool and big. Put him right back but he shot water right at us when we first pulled him out!

Description
This ferret popped out of a hole that the prairie dog seemed to be trying to cover up. The two animals seemed to be aware of each other, but they did not interact. Eventually the prairie dog wandered off.

Description
Success! Once released, black-footed ferrets will often pop back up from their burrows to inspect their new territories. They are very curious animals!
