Caught a rodent - mouse or vole? A Swainson's Hawk tried to swoop in and steal it, but the heron ate it whole.
Zombee?? Crawling around on grasses but abdomen looking gnarly... perhaps parasite?

Identified as Amanita muscaria on Bowerbird by Judy & Rob Peters: "4-5 mushrooms growing in lawn / garden underneath a blue spruce tree in a domestic garden. Distinctive red caps with white warts. white textured stipe and veil remnant evident. Introduced species. First ones I've seen in the area. Poisonous."

This is most likely the individual plant from this area in the UC-Jepson Herbaria ( listed in the flora by Ertter and Bowerman ) . This plant is semi-deciduous .
