Description

Some observations:

  • peak flowering might have been late Nov/early Dec? The flowers improved from mush, but predominantly non-flowering leaves near sea level to these pretty good ones at about 150m ASL. I did note more tiny corybas leaves in the tussock and under ferns up at 300m ASL.
  • flowers almost complete buried in Dracophyllum needles, and in some cases hidden under their own leaves
  • burgundy flower with yellow in the centre of the labellum
  • evidence of dark stripes on the bottom of the labellum

Description

This fungi was growing next to a Gentian (species unknown) on the cliffs at the end of the main Enderby Island boardwalk. Was not present in early December, and was the only patch observed on the island.
