Illustrating different size and proportions of Cackling Geese and medium/large Canada Geese. The large, upper right bird in the left image, also shown in the right image, may be a "Giant" Canada Goose (Branta canadensis maxima). At least two of the three Canada Geese at lower left of the left-hand image appear to be a smaller subspecies.

There is plenty of Red Columbine growing in Westover Tract near where I saw this duskywing. There is much alvar-like habitat which I believe Columbines prefer. It is only one concession away from where Columbines are known to be.

This is a picture that was taken by Dave Beadle who has given me permission to use his image. This rare and stunning moth came to the sheet for less than a minute and then abruptly left before I could take my own pic. It was a nice reward for suffering through one of the worst nights for biting insects that I can remember. Thanks DB!

Two domestic Mallards are seen swimming at Mill Pond Park. These are still the only domestics I've ever seen here.
One is a Crested Duck, recognizable from the distinct puff of feathers on its head. The other appears to be an Indian Runner judging by the plumage and sloping bill. They swam close to each other rather than with any of the wild Mallards occupying the same water.
My family called the Crested Duck the "Princess Leia Duck".
These ducks were my introduction the world of domestic and manky Mallards and it's interesting coming back to this photo with greater knowledge on the subject five years later.

LepiLED light trap. Tentative ID but seems like a good match for this one (and none of the other Agonopteryx known from Canada):

Kyle Johnson collected a specimen from Mackinac Co (MI) in a similar habitat on Sept. 18, 2018.
"sand dune ridges/wetland swales with scattered Larix-Pinus-Thuja-Picea-Betula woodland groves."

[Sept 9, 2021 edit: Kyle Johnson commented:
'sure looks like it to me. Agonopterix lythrella is similar size and pattern (and flies around the same time), but with a distinct dark reddish cast.
Wow, surprising that is new to Canada, given collection efforts on Manitoulin Island and other places. Shows how much we don't know! I've taken it in a few other northern Michigan locations as well, in addition to Mackinac. Co. Should be sought elsewhere in Ontario, esp. near the border with Michigan.
