Traveling Survey. Found on 1-hour long Bombus survey over a meandering transect. Shrubby grassland mostly dominated by cool-season exotics. Lonicera shrub. In the field I was highly considering pensylvanicus, but didn't get good enough looks to be certain, and I don't think these photos are conclusive either...

In a large colony of Lupinus perennis in full bloom on a small sand dune. The first time I've gotten decent photos of this species though I think I've seen it in the same area previously visiting cactus flowers. The orange pollen is characteristic of lupine. B. borealis may also occur in this area, and certainly looks similar.

Saw two rusty-patched bumblebees in a patch of asters and on the side of the road, right where a path branches off towards a trail marked with "no trespassing" signs. Not sure if this marked location is totally accurate to the sighting.
