New Trapdoor
A group of us headed out to Rustenburg on Saturday in search of a new species of trapdoor. A Horned trapdoor spider. Niela du Preez found a male in January this year on her stoep and got in contact with Ian Engelbrecht. It turned out to be a new underscribed species. We found 4 specimens and they will be used to describe this new species

Description
massive Daddy longlegs
a massive, heavily built daddy longlegs spider. Body about 10 -12 mm in length, 6mm wide abdomen globose. These spiders frequently sit on the cornice with the front legs stretched forward as in photo 2, they would be about 70 - 80mm in length in a pose like this. They live in typical untidy webs often in the corners of a room, the female with her kiddies chose to nest under the throat of a stuffed animal that happened to be residing in my bedroom (I'm not a hunter - it's a long story).

Description
Found in the bath just before a thunderstorm. Relocated outside to a collection of large shale rocks. Fairly large, but still able to squeeze down the bath's drainage pipe.
Sesotho name = Sekhoe saseholo
A few days prior to this discovery, a large female Theraphosid was found on the same farm. She was described as having thick legs and a golden-orange starburst on the carapace, and with the body colouration tending to orange. She was found in an extensive surface web that spanned grass tussocks and rocky areas in an area about 1m by 40cm. Reacted defensively to approaching footsteps, and the web consistency was described as fairly strong.

Description
Porseleinberg kitten
I must have seen a hundred or more burrows in three small sites on this day. We finally managed to entice one inhabitant out by tickling her tonsils with a blade of grass, it felt just like playing with a kitten as she grabbed hold of the grass and pawed in our direction. I've never been patient enough to get a burrowing spider out in the open but not even vynbos's terrified squeals could perturb this one.
