Description

There have been lots of these little bees visiting the goldenrod since it started blooming, but I have had a really hard time getting a decent picture because they move so erratically and, when they do set down, they burrow themselves into the flowers. Yesterday morning when it was still quite chilly, this enterprising little guy was the only insect I saw in the goldenrod patch, and it was moving relatively slowly. (It was joined by many others when it warmed up.) I love this picture!

Description

The plant she is frequenting is Crowea exalata. There were a number of c.s. bushes in the nearby vicinity and she kept going between all of them.

While still fast, she was still slightly slower moving than what I see of this species early on in the season.
